With her wedding right around the corner, Maren Morris is ready to get back to work once her nuptials to singer/songwriter Ryan Hurd are complete.
“Well I get married next month. That’s like the most important thing to have happen this year,” she told Zane Lowe of Beats 1 on Apple Music. “I’m doing that next month and then I kind of go right into the studio after that to make the next album.”
While Maren has been tight-lipped about the details of her upcoming wedding, there are a few things we do know. The wedding will be a small event and there will be no bridesmaids. It will take place in late March, her dog will be there and there will be tequila.
But after that celebration, Maren is heading straight back into the studio to work on her sophomore album which will follow-up 2016’s critically acclaimed debut, Hero.
“I have to do a lot of preproduction before the summer because I’m going out [on tour] with Niall Horan. I’m going to be gone for three months basically, and I have to do a lot of the preproduction for the album beforehand. You know, album two, it’s a big one.”
While many are awaiting the release of Maren’s second album, the singer gives an idea of what we can expect as she hits the studio and continues to write for the album. “It’s still really soulful and rooted in country but there’s still these R&B vibes to it and it’s kind of like the first one—it was a little bit of everything. I’m kind of getting out of my comfort zone on this next record but I’m still writing with a lot of the same friends of mine that were on the first. It’s a little bit of everything, but still really rooted in a country where I’ll always be.”
