In the early 1990s, Mary Chapin Carpenter was a force to be reckoned with as she released the Platinum, Shooting Straight In The Dark; the 4x Platinum, Come On Come On; and the 2x Platinum, Stones In The Road. The five-time GRAMMY winner and two-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year quietly released an album produced by Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton) last year, but mostly– it’s those tunes from the early 1990s that I come back to over and over (and over) again.

Carpenter has released 41 singles over the course of her career nine of those reaching the Top 10 between 1989 and 1994.

Plus, she had that appearance on Dolly Parton’s “Romeo,” which also featured Tanya Tucker, Kathy Mattea, Pam Tillis and Billy Ray Cyrus.
