For those that are avid watchers of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” you know that Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel have a longstanding “friendly” feud going on.
Every night Kimmel ends his show saying, ‘Sorry to Matt Damon, we ran out of time,’ insinuating that Damon was waiting in the wings to be on the show to no avail. For years Damon has been jokingly trying to get on Kimmel’s show, successfully making it from time to time. Last night was one of those times.
Damon crashed an interview with Thor’s Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and director Taika Waititi. The trio were on the show to promote their new movie “Thor: Ragnarok,” which was having the premiere across the street from the studio. As Kimmel was interviewing Ruffalo and Waititi in the green room, Damon crashed the set, sticking his head in for some screen time. The crowd screamed as they saw Damon make it on to the show.
However, Damon has recently been thrown smack in the middle of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal when he reportedly tried to kill a New York Times story back in 2004 about the Weinstein sexual harassment issue, a claim Damon has since spoken out about and denied.
“I would never, ever, ever try to kill a story like that,” Damon told Deadline.”I just wouldn’t do that. It’s not something I would do, for anybody.”
Damon’s appearance was an attempt to put the negative news behind him, with a little help from his friend Jimmy Kimmel. The appearance was met with mixed reviews. There were those loving his hilarious appearance and others condemning Damon for not speaking out on the issue, while on the show.
Apparently, you just can’t win.
