Funeral arrangements have been made for the late Mel Tillis, who passed away early Sunday morning (Nov. 19) from what is reported to have been respiratory failure, at the age of 85.

Visitation for Tillis will be held on Monday, November 27 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Sykes Funeral Home in Clarksville, Tennessee. A public funeral service will take place at Mount Hermon Baptist Church at 3p.m., with a private burial to follow.

Additionally, the Tillis family is planning a public memorial service in January which will be open to fans and the music industry. The event will be held in Nashville with details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Tillis battled intestinal issues since early 2016 and never fully recovered. The Country Music Hall of Famer, best known for his six No. 1 hits, “I Ain’t Never,” “Coca-Cola Cowboy,” “Southern Rains,” “Good Woman Blues,” “Heart Healer,” and “I Believe In You,” leaves behind six children—Pam Tillis, Connie Tillis, Cindy Shorey, Sonny Tillis, Carrie April Tillis, and Hannah Puryear—six grandchildren, a great grandson, a sister (Linda Crosby), a brother (Richard Tillis), the mother of five of his children (Doris Tillis), his longtime partner (Kathy DeMonaco) and many lifelong friends and fans around the world.
