Michael Ray’s debut single, “Kiss You in the Morning” was all about the thrill of a relationship and sneaking in a kiss whenever and wherever possible. The Florida-born singer-songwriter took the tune all the to No. 1 just as his self-titled debut album released and his second single, “Real Men Love Jesus” is showing a different side to the country boy.

Ray is all about family and his roots— a commitment to hard work and the Man Upstairs. “Real Men Love Jesus” is a look at his commitment to all of the things he loves, including mama, dancing, football and yes, Jesus.

Real men love Jesus,

And they love mama.

If they can get more than forty hours,

You know they gonna.

They give it hell till they get it right,

The kind every country girl’s tryin’ to find,

Every girl’s daddy’s kinda guy,

Ain’t scared to pray, ain’t scared to fight.

Before a recent appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage Ray sat down to play the tune acoustically backstage.
