Mickey Gilley has released a statement following the car accident that he and his son, Michael, were involved in on Wednesday (Jan. 3) while they were traveling in Texas on their way to Branson, Missouri.

During the accident their vehicle rolled over several times causing minor injuries. Mickey sustained a fractured ankle and a fractured right shoulder along with some bumps and bruises.

The legendary singer took to his Facebook page to update fans on his injuries and let everyone know he is OK and plans to continue performing when he heals.

“I had an accident yesterday. We rolled a little car about three times over,” Mickey said in the video.”I’m pretty good. I got a fractured left ankle and a fractured right shoulder. I am having a hard time walking because I have a big boot on my left leg. But other than that I gotta tell ya, I’m doing pretty good. To be 81-years-old and put myself through what I’ve been through, it’s kinda tough sometimes on the old man but I don’t intend to retire. I will be out there on the road and I’ll see you real soon.”

Due to the injuries, Mickey will reschedule his January 6 show at The Texas Theatre in Greenville, Texas. The new date has yet to be announced, but he plans to resume his normal touring schedule on January 20 at the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, Florida.
