-

Since Elton John announced his retirement from the road earlier this year, the music industry has come out to honor to the iconic singer. Elton himself, released a pair of tribute albums, Revamp and Restoration, that have pop and country star’s reimagining his biggest hits.

On Tuesday night (April 10), those pop and country stars came together to celebrate the Grammy wining artist during “Elton John: I’m Still Standing A Grammy Salute.” The evening saw performances by the music industry’s hottest stars, including Usher, Kesha, Maren Morris, Miley Cyrus, Little Big Town, Shawn Mendes and more.

While all the performances were something to behold, the highlight of the night was Miranda Lambert’s simplistic performance of “My Father’s Gun,” one of Elton’s lesser known hits, released in 1970 from his third studio album,Tumbleweed Collection.

The 71-year-old superstar took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Miranda’s performance that evening.  Miranda was so powerful, that she warranted two tweets from the man himself.

“Really tapping that country sound that Tumbleweed Connection was all about. This is great, @mirandalambert. Elton xo,” he wrote.

Elton then followed that tweet up by saying, “No argument from me there, @littlebigtown – @mirandalambert does rock and so does this performance of “My Fathers Gun.” – Elton xo.”

Miranda’s version of “My Father’s Gun” can be found on the Restoration side of Elton’s two-disc project.
