It’s been quite a year for Miranda Lambert— another trophy for CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, personal strife and a whole lot of songwriting.

Lambert’s release of “Vice” is her first single off her upcoming, yet-to-be announced new album– her first since 2014’s Platinum. The album won Best Country Album at the GRAMMY Awards and CMA Album of the Year.

The songwriting process for Lambert’s new project has been a little different this time around. Lambert even called it a “long” process.

This time around Lambert was actually living in Nashville, which allowed her to write 5 days a week for 8 months or so.

If “Vice” is any indication of the entire project to come– the long process was well worth it.
