According to Lex18.com, Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry has died in a helicopter crash.
A helicopter that Gentry was traveling in crashed at Flying W Airport in Medford, N.J. Prior to the identity of the two men killed in the crash being released, the venue had posted on Facebook that Montgomery Gentry show had been canceled for later that night.
A statement was sent out from the duo’s label, Average Joe’s Ent., confirming Troy’s death.
It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey. The duo was scheduled to perform tonight at the Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford. Troy Gentry was 50 years old. Details of the crash are unknown. Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.
Troy leaves behind his wife, Angie, and two children, Kaylee and Taylor. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Gentry family at this difficult time.
