Old Dominion Gets Encore Performance Following CMA Fest Concert Special

-

Fresh off their win for ACM Duo of the Year, Old Dominion is teaming up with Xfinity to create a special encore performance of their No. 1 hit “Written in the Sand.”

In honor of this year’s CMA Fest, fans will get an extra special treat from the band if they tune in to On Demand immediately following ABC’s concert special, CMA Fest, airing on Aug. 8.

“Every night we stand behind the stage and try and decide whether or not people wanted to hear more or not. Now we get kind of the encore on TV,” Old Dominion’s lead singer Matt Ramsey tells One Country.  “So it’s really cool to be able to have something extra out there and have more music out there. So we’re excited.”

Performed at the Nissan Night Concerts during CMA Fest, which took place June 7-10, “Written in the Sand” is the breakout song that was chosen for the encore special due to it’s relatability.

“‘Written in the Sand’ is important,” Matt says. “In the life of this band, it’s an important song because it’s a different sound for us, but it’s also a song that’s important to a lot of people. There’s a lot of people that go through that type of situation if you’re in a relationship, eventually someone goes, ‘We need to define this thing. What are we doing here?’ So I think that song is just—it just speaks to a lot of people and I think it’s a great choice to put out there.”

Fans can check out Old Dominion’s performance with Xfinity On Demand immediately following CMA Fest, on Wednesday, August 8th.

“It was pretty magical,” added Matt. “Such a huge crowd, for one thing. And we’ve played stadiums before, being on the Chesney tour. We play stadiums for the past three summers, but for some reason this one just felt different because it wasn’t a Kenny show, it was a country music show.”
