Garth Brooks admitted to lip syncing his performance during the 2017 CMAs calling it a “game time decision” in order to give fans the best show possible. Some people might say it was the sort of decision a professional entertainer would make – give a great performance no matter how you feel. But some country stars – Miranda Lambert and her boyfriend Anderson East – took offense from Garth’s actions and publicly criticized him. Since then, other country stars have taken to social media to publicly support Garth, most recently, Randy Travis.
Travis subtweeted Blake Shelton who was one of the first to write a simple message in support of Garth.
I have been to shows where the vocalists are sick or have otherwise lost their voice and, let me tell you, it was not a beautiful evening of “three chords and the truth.”, as East put it. It seems to me that there is very little space to criticize him, especially If Garth saved his voice on TV in order to create better live shows with paying fans.
