This Is Not How It’s Supposed to Be

In the last 4 years or so, since launching, I’ve been to at least 200 concerts. Maybe more, maybe less. I’ve been to shows with 50,000 people and private events where I sang karaoke with people you see on TV every week. People at these shows are young, old, rich and poor. Sometimes, they’ve saved up all year to buy tickets and sometimes, they have more VIP passes around their necks than you thought possible.

I’ve gotten to know a few artists on a pretty casual level. I’ve become friends with people who work for these artists.

This is not how it’s supposed to be.

This isn’t a– oh, I coud’ve been there thing, even though I could have been. This is different. It hits close to home. It’s scary, it’s tragic– it’s unnecessary. This is not how it’s supposed to be.

People go to shows to let loose, to enjoy, to get away. There shouldn’t be any fear when you’re singing in unison with 30,000 other people.

As reports continue to come in Las Vegas, it’s already the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. At a country music show in Las Vegas as Jason Aldean started singing, “When She Says Baby.”

That is an unbelievable thing to type.

This is not how it’s supposed to be.
