The songstress tells One Country how she wrote the song with Jimmy Robbins and Heather Morgan.
“They came to the writing session with a couple of ideas,” Sara says. “They had the idea of ‘Marquee Sign’ but no melody, nothing to go along with it. Just the idea of ‘If you had been a marquee sign, I wish I could’ve seen you better before I tied myself to you or before I got my heartbroken.'”
Another special part of the tune, is the special backup singer who can be heard toward the end of the song. Olivia Evans, Sara’s daughter, joined her mother on the track.
How did Olivia get the chance to appear on her mom’s record? “I got the flu for four weeks,” Sara admits.
“Marquee Sign” is the first single from Sara’s upcoming album, Words, out June 21.
