Sarah Darling is an up-and-coming country music singer making her way through Nashville with her own version of country music– dream country. Sarah recently attended the Radio Disney Music Awards for the first time and she agreed to keep a diary for One Country to show everyone what it’s like to be on the red carpet and in the audience at a major awards show.
The Radio Disney Music Awards may be over, but I’m still fangirling over all the amazing performances and fashion! One of my favorite parts was all the pops of color on the red carpet. I loved seeing everyone’s individuality shine through their outfits. It was great seeing everyone from the pop and country genres all on the same carpet. I mean, Hailee Steinfeld in all that gold… can you say showstopper?! And Kelsea Ballerini just looked so beautiful!
It was my first time walking the RDMA red carpet and it was nothing short of amazing! With my new album,
Dream Country, out I wanted to make sure my outfit represented it well so I planned it awhile in advance. I wore a beautiful white lace dress by Love and Lemons. I love their stuff because it’s sexy, but feminine with a little edge to it. The stars sprinkled on my face and hair are something I like to do for my performances so I brought that to my look as well. I also got paired with another RDMA first-timer, Maggie Baugh. We had a blast walking the red carpet together, let’s just say there were a lot of selfies!
The red carpet was just the beginning because once the performances started– I couldn’t keep my eyes off the stage. Hailee Steinfeld just blew me away. Alessia Cara was amazing. She’s got such an incredible and powerful message. Then, there was Grace Vanderwaal. She really impressed me playing that ukulele. She is so young and different with so much talent. The ultimate highlight though had to be the Britney Spears tribute. Everyone in the audience was rockin’ out and singing along. That really took me back to a different time and it was so sweet seeing her sister up on stage with her. My favorite part of the tribute was Kelsea’s rendition of “Oops, I Did It Again” because she put her own little spin on it with her guitar.
Being able to see all these amazing performances was such a dream come true. Disney has such a positive message and I was honored to be a part of one of their biggest nights. Definitely taking some inspiration away from those performances to use in my upcoming shows!
