Scotty McCreery made his way to New York to perform his first No. 1 hit, “Five More Minutes,” on the talk show “Harry,” with Harry Connick Jr.

“Five More Minutes,” is Scotty’s highest charting of his career and has connected with his loyal fans. “That’s been my favorite part of this that I wasn’t expecting,” he told One Country when the song was released“I wrote the song for myself and for my experiences. Now it’s like everybody does have their story. They have somebody or a moment they are thinking of.”

Scotty also sat down with Harry to talk about meeting his fiancée, Gabi Dugal.

“She’ll kill me for saying this but in her kindergarten diary she had Mrs. Gabi McCreery written all over it. I lucked out, I really did,” Scotty said of of his fiancée.

Scotty proposed to Gabi at their favorite spot— the mountains of North Carolina near Grandfather Mountain. The North Carolina native asked his girlfriend to go on a hike and when he found the perfect spot at the top of the mountain, he got down on one knee, presented the ring he had helped design specifically for her, and asked Dugal to be his wife.
