Shane McAnally is going to go down in history as one of country music’s best songwriters ever– no matter how many GRAMMYs he wins or doesn’t win.

This year, at the GRAMMYs, McAnally was nominated against himself in the category for Best Country Song for work on Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” and Midland’s “Drinkin’ Problem.” McAnally, nor his co-writers won for either song. (McAnally also had cuts on three albums nominated for Best Country Album.) To cheer him up, McAnally’s kids, Dash and Dylan, sent him a little video, sweetly saying, “daddy, you are still a winner… even though you’re a loser.”

McAnally captioned the video, “when you lose a GRAMMY, it’s always good to have family to make you feel better.”

Nailed it.

McAnally also shared, “We didn’t win a Grammy this year, but we did get a Sammy. We’ve been writing songs a long time together, and it really was a dream come true just to all be nominated together.”

A Sammy seems better anyway, honestly.
