Shania Twain is using her powers for good. The “That Don’t Impress Me Much” singer will be taking part as a mentor on the new Canadian television show, “The Launch,” which will make it’s debut on Wednesday, January 10 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV and CTV GO.
The six-part music series will give viewers behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to break a new artist and launch a new original song to the world. The first episode will include Shania, producer/songwriter busbee (Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum) and Big Machine Records Label head Scott Borchetta, who is credited for discovering Taylor Swift.
“I would have killed for a break like this,” Shania said in the promo, going on to share her excitement on Twitter. “I’m super excited to be a mentor on the very first episode of @TheLaunchCTV! Premiering January 10th, 9pm ET/PT on @CTV_Television,” Shania wrote.
According to the show’s website, each episode will feature five exciting musical acts from across Canada, following their journey to the studio, where they receive invaluable guidance from A-list musical mentors, including Boy George, Jennifer Nettles, Nikki Sixx, Fergie, Alessia Cara, One Republic’s Ryan Tedder and Julia Michaels.
Those in the United States will just have to wait to see clips if and when they come to YouTube. But to tide us over we can always tune into “American Idol,” “The Voice,” “America’s Got Talent,” and so on.
