Striking Matches performing Kanye West’s “Gold Digger” on electric guitars is unlike any cover you’ve ever heard! The duo, made up of Sarah Zimmerman and Justin Davis, recently teamed up to release an all-guitar version of Kanye’s “Gold Digger” that you have to see to believe.

Directed by Josh Kranich, the nearly four-minute clip has Justin playing the song’s rhythm section on acoustic guitar while Sarah takes the lead on slide guitar. After looping the drum beat on a loop pedal, Justin then picks up his own electric guitar. Seconds later he’s playing Kanye’s memorable rap on electric guitar. As the words are displayed on the video screen, viewers can rap along to the track that he’s mimicking on guitar.

Later, Sarah takes the lead as her bandmate accompanies her with the back beat. All the while, the two friends dance along to their performance and let their guitars do the talking. Watch their cover below.

Striking Matches met in guitar class and performed together on the very first day their paths crossed. Their 2015 debut album, Nothing But the Silence, was produced by T-Bone Burnett. They are currently working with Kennedy Karate (BØRNS, Silver Sun Pickups) for their follow-up LP. The duo describe their forthcoming album as “blues-pop” and promise roots-based guitar riffs with pop melodies.

The duo recently wrapped a UK Tour with “Nashville” star Clare Bowen. They’ve had nine of their songs featured on the television series, which closed its final curtain earlier this year. Currently, Striking Matches are in the midst of their US headlining tour which runs through October.
