It’s been 5 years since Sugarland’s Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles went their separate ways to work on solo projects. The duo has always maintained that they had not broken up, but were just taking a hiatus. Well, during the 51st Annual CMA Awards, the popular duo reunited to present the Vocal Duo of the Year Award and that’s when they got tongues wagging with the hint of new music coming from Sugarland.

“Funny seeing you here,” Jennifer said to Kristian from the stage.

“Feels like we’ve been here before,” Kristian responded.

“Ya know that’s true, in fact we’re here to present the CMA award we won together in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and well who knows?” Jennifer said teasing that there could be more CMA Vocal Duo of the Year awards in their future.

Kristian and Jennifer split in 2012 after Jennifer gave birth to her song Magnus. While the duo kept saying they were just taking a break, Kristian signed with Streamsound Records as a solo artist and released his solo album Southern Gravity. Jennifer went on to release two solo projects That Girl and Playing with Fire, featuring singles “Unlove You” and “Hey Heartbreak.”

These were sure signs the duo was over, kaput, done. They both seemed to be enjoying their solo projects and the future of Sugarland seemed bleak. But that tease on the CMA Awards show gave fans a glimmer of hope that Sugarland will return.

If that hint wasn’t enough for everyone to hang on to, the duo then showed up at the Big Machine Label after party and performed a few of their hits for the industry crowd, including “Baby Girl” and “Stay.” Hmmmm….

Ok, still need more? Well, moments after their appearance on the CMA’s, Sugarland started up a new Instagram account with one photo. Hello? Need we say more?

The posted picture has the much-loved duo looking directly into each other’s eyes with a caption that reads, “#StilltheSame.” Perhaps the new single or album name will be called Still the Same? You bet they’re still the same, and we can’t wait to hear what Sugarland has in store for us. We have a feeling we won’t have to wait very long wait.

Welcome back! The duo is expected to make an announcement about new music and a tour in the coming weeks.
