The Trio, made up of country music superstars Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, is responsible for creating some of the most awe-worthy harmonies and collaborative songs of all time.

From their groundbreaking version of “Wildflowers,” to their cover of “To Know Him Is To Love Him,” all of the music these ladies made has had a special impact on the country music world — but, their formerly unreleased a cappella version of “Calling My Children Home” has to be my new favorite.

The track was recorded in 1987 for the first Trio LP, but ended up not making the final cut. Now, the harmony-heavy tune is slated to appear on the third disc of the upcoming Complete Trio Collection boxed set.

The three talents actually performed a shortened version of the song during an interview with MTV VJ Nina Blackwood in 1987, but no one has ever heard it in full or as crisp, clear and breathtaking as this unreleased studio version.
