This Sunday, August 13, the Wreckers will reunite for one night only. The duo, which topped the charts in with “Leave the Pieces” in 2006 consists of Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp. And I couldn’t be more excited.
In 2006, I was working at Warner Bros. Nashville — now Warner Music Nashville — and I remember my boss bringing me a new album we were going to be working. I was excited just to learn that Michelle Branch was involved because I had been obsessed with her The Spirit Room album. Then I heard the music. At the time, I remember thinking it was so different from what was being played on the radio, but so, so good. And I wasn’t the only one who thought so. They went No. 1 with their debut single and reached the top 10 with their followup, “My, Oh My.”
By 2007, though, the pair had gone their separate ways after their second album was shelved by the label.
However, Michelle is currently touring in support of her new album, Hopeless Romantic, and she’s bringing Jessica along for her Nashville stop. She tells the Tennessean that they will perform several of their hits during her show at Marathon Music Works, marking the first time the former duo has seen each other in seven years. Seven.
Tickets are still available here. However, if you can’t make it, I’ll be there reporting back.
