When music is in your blood, the milestones are marked in a unique way.

Thomas Rhett‘s career is definitely on an upswing and his father singer-songwriter Rhett Akins found the perfect way to commemorate his achievements.

“What do you get your son who just won ACM Song of the Year and Male Vocalist?” Akins posted on social media. “A 1940 [Martin] D-18. Many hits to be written on this!”

“What a gift,” Thomas wrote on his own post. “Dad [Rhett Akins] got me a 1940 [Martin] D-18 and himself a 1941 [Martin] D-18.”

Boys and their guitars!

Oh, and Akins also acknowledge his daughter Kasey’s achievements, adding, “I also have a daughter @kasey_akins who is about to graduate college. That’s bigger than anything we’ve ever done. She’ll get a lifetime supply of noodles and Netflix.”
