Professionally and personally, the last 12 months of Thomas Rhett’s life have been huge. He won CMA Single of the Year, ACM Male Vocalist of the Year, was nominated for a GRAMMY, adopted a baby and found out his wife Lauren Akins is pregnant.

That’s enough to keep anyone on their toes and TR is doing it with help from some of his most famous friends.

Now that Thomas and Lauren have one baby home in Nashville and another coming very shortly, leaving town looks a lot different for him. Thomas recently told The Advocate, that the best advice he’s gotten for road life as a dad has come from Jason Aldean.

I‘ve texted a bunch of my artist buddies about that. I texted Jason Aldean the other day and said, “How do you ever leave the house and not feel guilty?”

He said that feeling never really goes away, but that when you leave the house now, you get on the bus for a different purpose. Before you had kids, it was all about going out there and trying to win at awards shows and sell as many tickets as possible and trying to have multi-week No. 1 (singles).

After you have kids, you still want those things. But at the forefront of your brain is, “How can I give my child the best life humanly possible?” (Aldean) said that’s what helps him get on the bus on the weekends. That’s the best piece of advice I’ve gotten so far.

TR is currently playing select dates at fairs and festivals and is on his Home Team headlining tour. And, yes, his daughter Willa Gray has already gotten a chance to take the stage.
