How many times have you thought, “Man, I could use a vacation,” lately? Once a day? Several times a day? In a pure act of coincidence, Thomas Rhett and Jon Pardi are taking us on a beach getaway all while practicing safe social distancing in their new music video for “Beer Can’t Fix.”
The good friends and duet partners hit the beaches, boats and motorbikes of Key West, Florida well before social distancing and self-quarantine were part of our daily vernacular. And thank goodness they did because they’re delivering a double dose of sunshine and smiles in “Beer Can’t Fix.”
Blue skies, bluer waters, white sands and swaying palms are the backdrop for the shoot that follows the pair as they fish and pick while floating, then hit the streets on scooters. The vibe is as laid back as the groove. In fact, the most stressful thing that T-Rhett and Jon do in the entire video is try to coordinate some choreography and whether it was too many beers that prevented their synchronization or too little coordination doesn’t even matter. The results are pure fun and a much needed distraction from the craziness of the world.
It’s great to see footage that may have typically ended up on the cutting room floor actually made part of the whole “Beer Can’t Fix” message. Thomas snags his line on Jon’s shirt — no sweat. Jon loses his hat while riding his scooter through town — no problem. His bike gets stuck in the sand — no worries.

Maybe beer can’t fix the coronavirus pandemic, but the “Beer Can’t Fix” video sure can gives us some relief from the nightly news and reminds us that better days are ahead. And for that, we’re grateful.
