Trace Adkins Lands Dream Starring Role in “The Outsider”

While it’s difficult to musically classify Trace Adkins as anything other than one of the last bastions of stone-cold country, when it comes to his acting career, the bearded baritone is much more diverse. However, his new role serves his penchant for historical western films.

Trace stars as Marshal Walker in the upcoming film release The Outsider. In a time of renegades and vigilante justice, he attempts to keep peace in his town until a terrible tragedy strikes and taking the law into his own hands is given new meaning.

Jon Foo appears as Jing, an immigrant railroad worker

In it, Jing is an immigrant railroad worker finds himself on the wrong side of a group of corrupt law. The Marshal, who is attempting to restore peace and justice to his town. After tragedy befalls the town, the Marshal is forced to choose between justice and family, however, Jing has plans for retribution and aligns himself with disgraced lawman Chris King, played by Sean Patrick Flannery. The story unfolds as he plots a course for revenge to eliminate political corruption in the town.

While this isn’t Trace’s first appearance in a western, this is certainly a significant role and found the country star on a bit of historical ground.  Filmed at the Paramount Ranch, the same location as such iconic western films as Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and TV shows like Gunsmoke, the film will be available theatrically, on Demand and Digital HD on June 14.
