In a smart move by “American Idol” contestant Trent Harmon and mentor Scott Borchetta, Harmon channeled his inner-Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake for two of his three performances on “American Idol.”

The decision for Harmon to perform “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away” would not have been interesting 6 months ago, but fortunately, for viewers and music fans everywhere– November 4, 2015 happened. You’ll remember this as the evening that Stapleton and Timberlake performed a medley of the tunes together on stage at the CMA Awards in Nashville. What followed was country music history, not to mention a country music single from Timberlake.

Harmon did both tunes justice but for the next 50 years any occasion that these songs are sung together or within a 50-mile radius of one another, the comparisons will flood in. Especially when you dress like both Stapleton and Timberlake for your performance– a rare collision of fashion.
