Fans have been screaming for a collection of Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks duets seemingly forever, and while the couple has discussed it, there isn’t a full album yet. However, from time to time, the couple collaborates on a tune like the newest from Trisha’s Every Girl album, “What Gave Me Away.” And this could possibly be what falling in love sounds like.

Trisha tells People, “The song describes such an intimate moment between two people. I couldn’t imagine asking anyone else to sing on this song except Garth. He’s my person. He’s my crush.”
The dreamy and ethereal production, with a simple, but lush music bed cradles Trisha’s rich, romantic lead vocals and Garth’s earthy, textured harmonies. Earnest lyrics reflect that rush and blush of new love, and give us the ultimate buckle-bumpin’ ballad of 2019.
“I was sweating, I was shaking, every breath that I was taking every time we met? / Was it obvious that I was blind to everybody else in the room? / And could you tell my heart was racing, I was falling, it was aching, couldn’t keep my cool? / Tell me, what did I say? What gave me away?” they sing.
Trisha goes on to say, “One of the nice things about getting older and becoming comfortable in my own skin is that I own all of the emotions in the songs now. It’s all about life.”
That’s a good life, Trisha!
Every Girl, Trisha’s first solo album of new music since 2007, is set to drop on August 30. In addition to her collaboration with Garth, Kelly Clarkson and Don Henley also appear on the project.
