After being forced to cancel 8 of his February tour dates due to the flu, Willie Nelson is bouncing back to fighting form.

Earlier this month Willie canceled the dates and fans were worried that the singer was down for the count. His team issued a statement assuring fans that Willie was on the mend but doctors wanted him to take it easy. “He is up and about and looks as healthy as ever but his doctor has determined that his voice needs more time to recuperate to give the performances you all love seeing,” read the statement.

If the statement wasn’t enough, Willie’s son, Lukas Nelson, is now sharing visual evidence that his 84-year-old dad is doing just fine.

“My dad is a badass … resting in Maui and feeling much better, according to him .. thanks to everyone who’s been asking how he is,” Lukas’ post read. The caption accompanied a photo of Willie doing a high kick toward a punching bag—that’s an impressive feat at any age. And lest we forget, Willie is a fifth-degree black belt in the martial art of GongKwon Yusul.

“I think martial arts is one of the best exercises you can do. Mentally, spiritually, physically, everything,” he told the AP at the time. It’s apparently helped Willie recover from the flu.

Willie’s next performance is scheduled for March 5 in Greenville, S.C.
