Who knew Alabama is “Sweet Home” for so many celebrities?

It would be weird if this band weren’t from Alabama, right? Their “Song of the South” began in Fort Payne.

2. Alabama Shakes

Another band named after their home state, but with a different sound; Grammy-winning band Alabama Shakes hails from Athens.

3. Jimmy Buffett

Everyone’s favorite Gulf-and-Western singer grew up in Mobile and Fairhope, which he has referred to as his hometown.

4. Courteney Cox

Everyone’s favorite “friend” and “cougar” was born in Birmingham and raised in Mountain Brook.

5. Kim Dickens

Known for her southern accent and character parts, Huntsville native Kim Dickens has most recently been seen in “Gone Girl” and “House of Cards.”

6. Mia Hamm

She helped make it cool for girls everywhere to play soccer by playing and winning on the Women’s National Team and the Women’s Olympic teams. She also happens to be from Selma.
