5 Things You Need to Know About the 2015 American Music Awards:

1. There was a kiss.

After Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth performed a collaboration of their singles, “Marvin Gaye” and “I’m I’m Gonna Lose You,” the two kissed. Like, a real kiss for a long time. Lots of people were freaking out.

2. Gwen Stefani performed.

Gwen performed her new single, “Used to Love You.” It was sad, emotional and well. Watch it.

3. Sam Hunt won an all-genre award.

Sam Hunt won the award for New Artist of the Year. This is a big deal because it was an all-genre award and he was up against some pretty big names.

4. Justin Bieber performed in the rain.

Bieber performed pieces of “What Do You Mean,” “Where Are U Now?” and “Sorry” for the crowd, but really made it rain at the end. Like, literally.

5. Anna Kendrick gave a really interesting acceptance speech.

Anna Kendrick’s “Pitch Perfect 2” took home the award for Soundtrack of the Year and really had her moment in the spotlight with this acceptance speech. Still not sure if her co-stars had any idea what was happening.

Demi Lovato literally wasn’t alive when Alanis took over the world in the early ’90s, but this performance didn’t suck.
