Blake Shelton told Barrett Baber before his performance during the Top 12 live show on “The Voice” there was no need for him to “country anything up. When you open your mouth you are country.”

Baber took Richard Marx’s “Right Here Waiting,” and did exactly what his coach told him to do– sing it and try to stand in one place while doing it. Baber nailed one his coach’s ideas but was filled with too much passion to stand still and sing for too long.

After his performance, Blake told the Arkansan, “What comes out of you is real. It’s passionate and it’s the things that make you a real artist. You proved the thing I wanted to prove tonight for you, which is, first and foremost, you are a great singer, dude. Congratulations.”

After the performance, even Richard Marx tweeted his approval. Not bad.
