I grew up working really hard at trying to understand what Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers was singing during “Can’t Stop.” I also was slightly fascinated by the band’s bassist Flea and his seemingly unending supply of LA Lakers clothing. I was a fringe fan of the band, but I was definitely a fan.
The supergroup was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, but most recently appeared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” for a round of carpool karaoke– a true sign one has made it into the mainstream of pop culture relevance these days. No. 1 singles and hall of fame inductions come and go, but carpool karaoke is forever.
The guys made the most of their time in the car with Corden singing “Can’t Stop,” “Give It Away,” and “By The Way.” Of course, before the group could really feel at home they had to show some skin with Kiedis saying, “it feels more natural to bare some skin.” The rest of the band followed suit as they launched into their hit, “The Zephyr Song.”
Oh yeah, Kiedis and Corden also did some wrestling on someone’s front lawn.
