Chris Weaver sat down with Carson Daly in New York City prior to his blind audition on season 13’s premiere of “The Voice” and you knew a twist was coming.

As a worship leader in his mom’s church, he gets to set the tone for worship and kind of do his own thing. As a drag queen he is eager to showcase his true self and establish his own voice without the facade.

Those are all things that were said.

Weaver’s version of Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness” got every coach out of their chair– Adam Levine stood in his, Miley Cyrus danced, Jennifer Hudson threw a shoe at him and Blake Shelton walked across the stage to kick Adam’s clothes off the stage. (A lot happened in just 40 seconds or so for all that to make sense.)

He wanted J. Hud and he got J. Hud.
