Here’s the thing: you’ve been listening to Old Dominion for a while now and you probably didn’t even know it. Over the past 10 years, group members have written hits for The Band Perry, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, and Craig Morgan. Including the mega-hits “Chainsaw;” “Wake Up Loving You;” “Better Dig Two;” and even some tunes for ABC’s “Nashville.”
Not that the band is unhappy with their success as songwriters, but Matthew Ramsey, Brad Tursi, Trevor Rosen, Geoff Sprung and Whit Sellers are ready to deliver music to fans as Old Dominion Band and not behind-the-scenes. If you’re not super familiar with state nicknames (or 1990s women’s college basketball facts) “Old Dominion” might not resonate with you, but with four band members hailing from Virginia, Old Dominion was a natural choice for the band’s name (it’s the state’s nickname).
The band’s debut single, “Shut Me Up,” is off their upcoming EP Old Dominion, which was produced by Shane McAnally (ACM’s 2014 Songwriter of the Year).
As a band the group has experience some success on XM radio with “Dirt on a Road.”
The band’s sound is reminiscent of the ’80s one-hit wonder, the Georgia Satellites, but more like the Eli Young Band met up classic rock.
The band is gearing up to head out on select dates with Chase Rice this fall and of course, is already on a radio nearby.
