If you haven’t finished watching “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” stop reading right now.
I mean it. I’m not going to be accused of spoiling anything for anyone.
If you continue reading, you’re agree that you’ve either seen all four episodes or that you don’t care what is spoiled for you.
Seriously, this is on you.
I was a long-time “Gilmore Girls” fan and super excited for the new episodes. I did not set my alarm and wake up at 2am Central time to watch, but I did make sure that I “went to bed early” in order to watch as much as I could while not offending my parents, whom I was visiting.
There is a lot that I loved about the new episodes, but perhaps the biggest thing was the surprise appearances. Sure, we knew that the principal cast was coming back — and even some minor, but lovable characters — but there a few I didn’t see coming.
1. Mr. Kim
Mr. Kim exists!
Paul — or umm, Pete — you might not remember. He’s this guy that Rory was dating. He wasn’t around much, but I was definitely surprised to see he existed.
3. Troubadour’s sister
If you blinked, you missed it, but I loved that the Troubadour’s rivalry extends to (alleged) family.
He’s evil. He’s the worst. But God I loved seeing him.
5. Paul Anka
The real Paul Anka is always a treat.
6. Rachel Ray
Because, why not?
I understand that scotch isn’t a person, but did you notice how much scotch was consumed or brought up? Seriously, I’m starting to think scotch is as essential to the Gilmore Girls as Stars Hollow.
8. Mae Whitman
Did you catch Lauren Graham’s other daughter on the street? Parenthood fans will remember that Whitman played Graham’s daughter on the show and would’ve spotted her in one of the “lines.”
9. Jason Ritter
Another Parenthood castmate was the first park ranger.
10. Peter Krause
As was the the second, who is also Graham’s real-life beau.
11. Roy Choi
And, of course, the famous food truck chef.
