Now that I’m an adult, Halloween is no longer a trick-or-treat, walk around the neighborhood, dress up with friends type of affair. Now, when Halloween rolls around, I prefer to curl up on the couch with a bag of candy (of course candy is still involved), a glass of wine and a movie.

So, if you want to do chill Halloween like me this year, check out these non-scary, but super October 31-reverent movies that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

8 Non-Scary Movies You Need To Watch This Halloween:

1. “Hocus Pocus”

This movie is simply a good time — even though it’s about three witches who are on a hunt for eternal youth on Halloween.

2. “Halloweentown”

Yes, I had to throw in this classic DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie).

A cute, feel-good movie about a young witch saving a town full of other supernatural creatures, “Halloweentown” is the perfect dose of Halloween without all the terror.

3. “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”

This one is just good, clean fun.

4. “Beetlejuice”

This is a classic and, in my mind, the best non-scary movie you can watch on Halloween.

5. “Edward Scissorhands”

This has to be my favorite Tim Burton masterpiece. It’s not technically Halloween-y, but hey, it’s appropriate.

6. “Harry Potter” — All of them.

Okay, these aren’t actually Halloween movies either, but what says October 31 more than witches, wizards, magic and pumpkin juice?

7. “Practical Magic”

Okay, so this is mostly a love story, but it has a lot of magic and a pretty good Halloween scene.

8. “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

This Tim Burton classic captures the spirit of Halloween perfectly. With a little bit of creepy and a whole lot of heart, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is the perfect supplement to any Halloween night.
