Before Leonardo DiCaprio became the infamous actor known for his hard-hitting roles in films such as “Titanic,” “Aviator,” “Inception,” “Wolf of Wall Street” and “The Revenant,” he was acting alongside Kirk Cameron in the popular ’80s sitcom “Growing Pains” — apparently the witty family comedy-drama really prepped him for the big time.
Acting as homeless teenager Luke Brower who was taken in by the Seaver family, Leo got himself into typically sitcom-esque shenanigans, learned a thing or two about becoming a good person and also taught us some good ole, ground-breaking life lessons that we are sure to never forget.
In his last scene on the show — he was probably off to shoot “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” or something — Leo had one of those very moments. Torn between staying with the family who had so kindly taken him in and his father, Leo and Kirk have a touching brotherly moment that’ll certainly bring a tear to your eye.
So, if Leonardo finally wins his much deserved Oscar this year, we wouldn’t be surprised if he thanked Kirk Cameron.
