It’s officially official in terms of official announcements. Justin Timberlake will headline Super Bowl LII Pepsi Halftime show on February 4, 2018 in Minnesota. Typically, the Super Bowl is most-watched television event of the year, but Timberlake is no stranger to big events– most recently, he opened up the Oscars with a performance of “Can’t Fight the Feeling.” Timberlake also performed on the big stage in 2001 as a part of the group *NSYNC and in 2004 with Janet Jackson– you know the one.
The announcement came during NBC’s Sunday Night Football matchup and of course, featured a skit between Timberlake and BFF Jimmy Fallon.
Timberlake: Sir, do you have the time?
Fallon: I was going to ask you, sir, do you have the time?
Timberlake: You do have the time?
Fallon: I do have time.
Timberlake: You do have time?
Fallon: You do have time.
Timberlake: I do half time.
Fallon: You do halftime?
Timberlake: I do halftime.
Fallon: You’re doing the halftime show at the Super Bowl?!
Mike Tirico sat down with Timberlake to discuss the event. Timberlake said he was “immediately excited.” He also concerned there would be no wardrobe malfunctions during this performance.
