King of pop, actor, father and comedian (not really, but he should be) Justin Timberlake was honored at this year’s Teen Choice Awards with the Decade Award, an award that recognizes him for the years of influence and success he’s had in the industry.

Ever since entering the spotlight in 2006, Justin has been on a non-stop path to superstardom. Whether it’s been in the music, movie or TV industries, the 35-year-old artist has continuously used his talent and voice to positively impact the people around him.

Really, no one is more deserving of this great award.

During his time at the awards, Justin was not only praised for the great impact he’s made, but he actually took the opportunity to continue his influence. Speaking on the power of the teen voice, acceptance, love and compassion, Justin used the platform of his acceptance speech to encourage and speak wisdom into the Teen Choice attendees and viewers.

“As a former teen, a while ago, who’s made a few choices along the way, I’m here to tell you that you and your choices matter,” Justin said. “My parents did their best to fill my young mind not with prejudice or hate but with compassion and love. I think it’s part of the reason why, to this day, I try to live my life working most closely with, making music with, and spending so much of my time with an amazing group of people — male, female, straight, gay, every walk of life.”

That’s powerful.
