Seth Meyers is so right. Sometimes, “you just need to take a break and drink during the afternoon.”
And who better to drink with than one of America’s greatest natural resources– Kelly Clarkson? No one.
Kelly and Seth got together in New York to do a little day drinking and it was legendary.
After downing a beer in a very short amount of time, Seth decided to make drinks based on Kelly’s career, starting first with the Simon Cowell and moving on to the GRAMMY, but not the awards, Seth’s grandmother. The GRAMMY contained a lot of Werther’s Originals and other liquor. Kelly drank it, Seth said it was good and Kelly called him a liar.
Then, Kelly made Seth a drink called the Blake Shelton which contained bourbon, Tennessee whiskey, Southern Comfort and “b-a-n-a-n-a-s.” Kelly pounded it and said, “I could use some toothpaste.”
At this point, Kelly and Seth were pretty wasted. They took a test naming as many “F” words as they could in 1-minute. Seth said Kelly named 18, but I heard closer to four or five words.
Things really went off the rails when Seth decided to finally show Kelly “what a fan of yours I am.” He took a shot and put on noise-canceling headphones to perform “Since U Been Gone” for her.
I can’t say for certain, but I don’t think Seth knew the words to the song before getting drunk and he definitely didn’t know them after either. At the end, as he was on his knees in front of Kelly he said, “I f*ckin’ nailed it.”
Following Seth’s performance, the pair went up to the roof of the Standard Hotel and yelled random, terrible things for all the world to hear.
This is easily the greatest bit Seth has ever done.
