Kelly Clarkson has always been her own artist with her own voice, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t influenced by other artists. Especially other artists that grew up down the road from her.

Clarkson’s “Whole Lotta Woman,” off her new Meaning of Life album, could easily be a track from Beyonce and more than once takes a cue from Queen Bey and reminds us that KC may reside in Tennessee but she is from Texas.

Clarkson starts the tune by immediately declaring, “You ain’t know? Texas women do it bigger” and she only gets bigger and more declarative from there.

Throughout the tune Clarkson addresses the things that make her a “Whole Lotta Woman,” and though she compares herself a warm biscuit on a Sunday morning, it works.

She also compares herself to:

  • Pot full of grits
  • Dessert
  • A boss
  • Sugar, honey
  • Iced tea
  • Tina Turner
On top of that, it literally sounds like both Beyonce and Bruno Mars are on the track– in a good way.
