“American Idol” is the zombie apocalypse of TV shows. It was beloved in life, laid to rest, and now has inexplicably returned to wreak havoc on the TV landscape. But some of its brightest stars will not be returning. Kelly Clarkson, the inaugural winner of “American Idol” has chosen to be a judge on the show’s rival “The Voice.” It’s not that she has a beef with “American Idol,”they just came back way too fast.
By the time American Idol was gearing up to return, Clarkson was already in talks to be a judge on “The Voice.” She knew that “Idol” would come back, but thought it would take five to ten years. Add to that the fact that her husband is Blake Shelton‘s manager, that she has done a lot with “The Voice” in the past, and (most importantly) that Clarkson has already given “Idol” 15 years and the decision seems pretty reasonable.
