Like most of America (and probably the world), I love “La La Land.”
Now, I’m not one of those crazy this is the best movie I’ve ever seen and it should win every award ever people, but I do have a huge appreciation for the light-heartedness and uniqueness of the film.
Oh, and Ryan Gosling‘s singing voice.
Anywho, a couple in California decided to have a “La La Land”-inspired engagement shoot — and I’m obsessed.
After seeing the Oscar-nominated film, photographer Marlies Hartmann of M. Hart Photography teamed up with newly-engaged couple, Ellen Wleklinski and Corey Collins, to make her dream of recreating the film a reality.
“Ellen and Corey are both native Californians who met and fell in love right here in LA, even though they grew up in neighbouring towns upstate,” Marlies told BuzzFeed. “They visited the Griffith Observatory for one of their first dates… They were both huge fans of the film, and Ellen always felt that Corey looked like her own personal Ryan Gosling!”
If that’s not goals, I don’t know what is.
Marlies picked the lucky couple because she thought they not only physically look like Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling’s characters from the film, but they act like them too.
“Ellen and Corey’s relationship encapsulates the same romance, passion, playfulness and chemistry that was felt between Mia and Sebastian throughout the film,” she told The Huffington Post. “Not only did they resemble the characters physically, but their relationship embodies all the best elements of Gosling and Stone seen in the movie.”
So cute — I can’t handle it.
Initially, Marlies was nervous to present her idea to the couple because she wasn’t sure if they’d even seen the movie.
“I was initially hesitant to suggest it to them since I wasn’t sure if they had seen or even liked the movie, but I threw out the idea and they loved it!” she told The Huffington Post. “They were both huge fans of the film, and Ellen always felt that Corey looked like her own personal Ryan Gosling!”
Well, we’re sure glad things worked out!
