Week after week, Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez has taken on the challenge of “Dancing with the Stars” with grace, poise and a huge smile on her face — but this week was a little different. While Laurie was still her optimistic, bubbly self, she did find herself a bit overwhelmed and frustrated over her and partner Val Chmerkovskiy’s demanding paso doble.

In their video package, a teary Laurie expressed the pressure she felt after receiving a perfect score the previous week. During the interview, she also shared a bit about past hardships she’d experienced because of gymnastics and the frustration she feels when people just assume things come easy to her — “I’ve been through a lot of stuff.”

But, even after an emotional week in the studio, Laurie got out on the “DWTS” stage and proved once again that she’s a force to be reckoned with. And, even though she and Val didn’t receive a second perfect score, the two were rewarded an impressive 25 out of 30 points.
