In October, Hallmark released their holiday movie lineup for this year, and it did not disappoint, and neither did Freeform’s (formerly ABC Family) Countdown to Christmas schedule. Luckily for me and the rest of my fellow cheesy movie lovers out there, Lifetime announced that they’ll be airing six all-new original movies this year, and it’s the best Christmas gift we could’ve asked them for if you ask me!
They’re calling this year’s lineup their “It’s a Really, Really Cozy Christmas” series, and the plots are phenomenal– and yes, our boy Mario Lopez does make an appearance, as well as Jana Kramer, Melissa Joan Hart, and Alexis Knapp from “Pitch Perfect.” The plots for all of them are holiday perfection and 100% predictable, but isn’t that exactly what we want from Lifetime?
So without further adieu, I present to you Lifetime’s Original Holiday Movies for 2017:
1. Wrapped Up in Christmas – November 25
On November 25, Lifetime will kick off the season with “Wrapped Up in Christmas,” and the plot basically promises it wont disappoint. Ali, played by Tatyana Ali, is a manager of a local mall (classic) and she has to shut down any stores that aren’t performing well. Meanwhile, her love interest, played by Brendan Fehr, works as the mall Santa, but Ali’s character has no idea. GASP.
2. A Very Merry Toy Store – November 26
This plot is totally “You’ve Got Mail” inspired! In “A Very Merry Toy Store,” Mario Lopez and Melissa Joan Hart play small toy-store owners who are fighting to keep their businesses running when a giant toy store competitor comes into town. Will they keep their stores alive? Will they fall in love?? Will they get married?! SO MANY QUESTIONS! This airs on November 26.
3. Four Christmases and a Wedding – December 2
This plot on this one is kind of vague, but still interesting nonetheless! This woman is an event planner and she’s in charge of planning the town’s local Christmas festival and every year, she crosses paths with a love interest who is forced to leave at the end of the holiday because he works overseas– but based on the title, I’d imagine that this is the Christmas that he won’t leave. Or maybe he takes her with him?? We’ll see on December 2!
4. My Christmas Prince – December 3
Of course they had to throw a Cinderella story into the mix! “My Christmas Prince” is about a girl (played by “Pitch Perfect’s” Alexis Knapp), who falls in love with a diplomat who– plot twist– is actually a prince.
5. Christmas in Mississippi – December 9
Jana Kramer plays a photographer who goes home to Mississippi after a hurricane to help the town rebuild. While she’s there, she of COURSE crosses paths with her high school sweetheart. You can probably figure out the rest.
6. Snowed-Inn Christmas – December 16
On December 16, “Snowed-Inn Christmas” premieres, and it’s gold. These two writers spend Christmas on assignment in Santa Claus, Indiana (which is real, by the way), and they find themselves trying to save the town inn, no word on what from though.
Of course, Lifetime will be airing plenty of their original holiday movies from past years in the times between these premieres. Between this, Freeform’s “Countdown to Christmas” and all of the Hallmark holiday movies debuting this year, your DVR should be nice and full this holiday season!
