The “Ocean’s” series of heist films by Steven Soderbergh (“Magic Mike“) are incredibly fun. They are stylish, funny, and whip smart. The characters are also unbelievably wealthy, stealing for fun or to settle old scores. In “Logan Lucky,” Soderbergh shows us how redneck ingenuity could get the job done.
Channing Tatum and Adam Driver star as brothers, one unemployed and the other sporting a prosthetic arm, looking to pull off the heist of a lifetime by robbing the Charlotte Motor Speedway during the largest NASCAR race of the year. To do this, they recruit Joe Bang (Daniel Craig) the appropriately named vault explosives expert. From there we can only assume both hilarity and action follow.
Personally, I cannot wait for that redneck to tell us about “all the Twitters.” That’s really all there is to computers anyway.
“Logan Lucky” also stars Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: Winter Soldier”), Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”), Katherine Waterston (“Alien:Covenant,” Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), Riley Keough (“Mad Max: Fury Road”), Katie Holmes, and Academy Award winner Hilary Swank and is set to release nationwide August 18.
