Shortly after Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson came onto the scene in the late ’90s, the world was introduced to another up-and-coming legend, Mandy Moore.

Yes, Rebecca Pearson from “This Is Us” really was a singer and her biggest hit was “Candy.” And yes, candy rhymes with Mandy.

“Candy” was released in August of 1999 and strangely, barely made it onto Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. But, the music video was in our hearts forever.

Mandy tries out several different awful hairstyles and outfits before meeting up with her similarly dressed friends and driving around town in a green VW bug.

It’s so 1999, even 1999 can’t watch it.

Mandy’s other big hit came in 2000 and was featured on the soundtrack for “Center Stage.” It spent 16 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
