Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler Offer Up Poignant Tribute to Route 91 Harvest Shooting Victims During “The Tonight Show”

Jimmy Fallon opened “The Tonight Show” with a quick, but thoughtful note– “in the face of tragedies and acts of terror, we need to remember that good still exists in this world. We’re here to entertain you tonight and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Fallon then introduced Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler to sing a cover of Dido’s “No Freedom.”

Cyrus took the reigns on most of the tune and Sandler backed her up on guitar wearing all black.

The lyrics to the song are especially poignant in the face of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Try to think of the world
Where you could stay and these safe hands could go
Take your heart above the water
Wherever I choose to go

No love without freedom
No love without freedom
No love without freedom
No freedom without love

Even when you don’t see me
Even when you don’t hear
I’ll be flying low below the sun
And you’ll feel it all out here
