Prince William is Bringing Prince Harry to the Great American South

Move over Elvis, Memphis is about to greet a new king (or king-in-waiting)! It’s being reported by just about every media outlet in the world that Prince William and Prince Harry will be attending a wedding this weekend in good ole, Memphis, Tennessee. That’s right, Memphis, home of Autozone Park and FedEx, will be hosting two Royals. (Everyone, calm down. Kate is not coming.)

Memphis, best known for its barbecue, the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., and Graceland is playing host to longtime friend of the princes, Guy Pelly. Apparently, Pelly is marrying the heiress to the Holiday Inn throne, Lizzy Wilson.

Having visited Memphis several times throughout my life, I really hope they get to see the best of Memphis (I have been lost there at night before and I hope that doesn’t happen to them). There’s a lot more to Memphis than the Peabody Ducks and fried chicken, though I hope they get to experience both. The city is also home to Sun Records, the birthplace of modern rock-n-roll. The studio that discovered Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a few names. Plus, its NBA team, the Grizzlies, is battling it out in the NBA playoffs and could potentially host a game while the Royals are in town. I think William and Harry would love a trip the “Grind House!”

This is a big weekend for the South, as the Kentucky Derby is also happening. However, all eyes are on you, Memphis, do the great American South proud.
