Psy’s international hit “Gangam Style” horse-danced across the globe in 2012. The “Gangam Style” music video quickly became the most viewed video on YouTube of all time, a crown that has remained unthreatened ever since. But this week, almost five years to the day since “Gangam Style was put on YouTube, it has been dethroned by an unlikely candidate.

The current king of YouTube is “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, a combination theme for 2015’s “Furious 7” and a moving tribute to the late Paul Walker.

The video quietly passed “Gangam Style” a few days ago, but has since cemented it’s place in the #1 spot. As of writing, “See You Again” has 2,909,814,424 views, almost twelve million more than “Gangam Style”.

“See You Again” will need to to increase it’s views at this rate to stave off Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” which has amassed 2.5 billion views since it’s release in January 2017.
